Samsung Care+ Extended Warranty service Terms and Conditions (Smartphones, Tablets and/or Smartwatches) Hong Kong

The Extended Warranty service (“EW Service”) provided to you by Samsung Electronics H.K. Company, Limited (“Samsung”) (“EW Service Plan”) is governed by these Terms and Conditions.

1.1 This EW Service Plan will serve You for repairing of inherent mechanical and electrical defects and/or failure of Your Mobile Device during the EW Service Period (as defined in clause 2.1.3 below) including,

1.1.1 Unlimited repair requests for EW Service or one (1) BER substitution; and

1.1.2 One (1) battery replacement service request as specified in clause 2.3 below.

1.2 Walk-in to the nearest Samsung authorized service center at Your convenience for EW Service repair or battery replacement request during the EW Service Period.

1.3 You can make an EW Service repair request 6 days a week by calling our multi-lingual customer services hotline.  

2. Terms and Conditions

2.1 Definitions

2.1.1 Mobile Device: Smartphones, tablets and/or smartwatches, as set out in the personalised information that You will receive in Your email or through SMS which should be for personal use only and not to be used for commercial, rental, or profit generation purposes.

2.1.2 Normal Use: Use of the Mobile Device in accordance with the Samsung guidelines for Mobile Device usage including but not limited to regular maintenance and upkeep of the Mobile Device, usage of specified protection devices such as voltage stabilizers.

2.1.3 Extended Warranty: The Extension of the Original Manufacturer's Warranty on Mobile Devices for a period of one (1) year. The EW Service Plan commences on the day immediately after the expiry date of the Original Manufacturer's Warranty and it covers repairing of inherent mechanical and electrical defects and/or failure of the Mobile Device, subject to the relevant terms and conditions contained in the Original Manufacturer's Warranty and the terms and conditions contained herein.

2.1.4 BER: ‘Beyond Economic Repairs’ means cost of a repair is greater than 85% of the recommended retail price (RRP) of the Mobile Device, which should be evaluated and determined by the Samsung authorized service centres at their discretions.

2.1.5 Manufacturer Covered Defects: Defects covered by the Original Manufacturer’s Warranty during the Original Manufacturer’s Warranty Period. The covered defect will vary for each Mobile Device in accordance with the Original Manufacturer’s Warranty for the said Mobile Device.

2.1.6 Original Manufacturer’s Warranty: The original warranty given by Samsung in respect of a Mobile Device.

2.1.7 Original Manufacturer’s Warranty Period: The uninterrupted period of the Original Manufacturer’s Warranty cover as stated on the official Original Manufacturer’s Warranty certificate or publication.

2.1.8 You/Your: The customer of this EW Service Plan.

2.1.9 Immediate Family Member: Your spouse and/or children.

2.2 Scope of EW Service repair

Repairs which are required by You during the EW Service Period are for the same defects as the Manufacturer Covered Defects, in respect of the Mobile Device, subject to the following conditions:

2.2.1 Repair performed exclusively by a Samsung authorized service center.

2.2.2 The Mobile Device must (a) have been purchased new in Hong Kong; (b) have been manufactured/distributed in Hong Kong or legally imported into Hong Kong; (c) have been sold through the Samsung’s authorized dealer / distributor supported by an invoice & Original Manufacturer’s Warranty; (d) at all times have been used in accordance with Samsung’s guidelines for Mobile Device usage including but not limited to regular maintenance & upkeep of the Mobile Device; (e) not have been modified at any time; (f) have been used for personal use only and not for commercial, rental, or profit generation purposes; and (g) have been mainly used by You and Your Immediate Family Member, and have been in Your possession (or Immediate Family Member as relevant) only.

2.2.3 Any previous repair to the Mobile Device must (a) have been performed in Hong Kong; and (b) have been performed by the Samsung authorized service center.

2.2.4 The Original Manufacturer’s Warranty must remain valid throughout Original Manufacturer’s Warranty Period and not been voided or affected by any action by You.

2.2.5 In performing EW Service repair, Samsung shall have the option in its discretion, without prejudice to the terms and conditions of this EW Service Plan:

2.2.5.1 to substitute the Mobile Device with a like-for-like model (in the case of BER. The substituted Mobile Device (the spoilt unit) shall become Samsung property. You will be responsible to backup and restore any data You may have from the substituted Mobile Device to the replacement Mobile Device, where relevant.

2.2.5.2 to outsource or sub-contract repair or any part of it.

2.3 Scope of EW Service battery replacement

One (1) battery replacement request during the EW Service Period as specified in this EW Service Plan and as requested by You for the replacement of battery where the battery capacity of the Mobile Device to hold an electrical charge is less than eighty percent (80%) of the battery’s original specification.


2.4 Other Key Conditions
2.4.1 This EW Service Plan becomes valid only on the day immediately after the expiry date of the Original Manufacturer's Warranty.

2.4.2 This EW Service Plan is only valid for the Mobile Device detailed in the personalized information issued to You by email and/or SMS after purchasing of this EW Service Plan. This EW Service Plan is not assignable or transferable by You or to another device, for any reason (including but not limited to the Mobile Device being sold to a third party), other than in the cases set out in clause 2.4.3 below.

2.4.3 This EW Service Plan is transferable to another device only in the event of:

2.4.3.1 the Mobile Device received from Samsung being dead on arrival (DOA);

2.4.3.2 the Mobile Device being substituted by Samsung due to its non-repairable state; or

2.4.3.3 the Mobile Device being substituted under the terms of the Accidental Damage and Liquid Damage Device Insurance provided by FWD General Insurance Company Limited

This EW Service Plan shall continue to cover the substituted Mobile Device provided that You notify us in writing, through the method mentioned in clause 3 “Extended Warranty Repair and Battery Replacement Request Process" below (a) of the DOA within 30 days from the date of the invoice; (b) of the details of the substituted Mobile Device within 30 days from the date of Your receipt of the substituted Mobile Device.

The Mobile Device model and IMEI number will be updated accordingly. For these purposes, “DOA” or “dead on arrival” refers to a Mobile Device (i) being purchased and not taken immediately from a physical outlet and which is later delivered to You; (ii) upon delivery is found to be completely inoperative; and (iii) is immediately returned to the manufacturer for replacement.


2.5 What is Not Included
This EW Service Plan is only for Extended Warranty repairs of the same defects as the Manufacturer Covered Defects based on the terms set out in this EW Service Plan, and for the avoidance of doubt, does not include repair or services of or for the following:

2.5.1 Extended Warranty repairs caused by violating the Original Manufacturer’s Warranty, abuse or negligence.

2.5.2 Regular wear and tear or gradual deterioration.

2.5.3 Replacement of or support for data, software, music etc. i.e. any data stored on the Mobile Device.

2.5.4 Repair implicitly or explicitly covered by the Original Manufacturer’s Warranty

2.5.5 Replacement of any consumable items or accessories like chargers, headphones etc.

2.5.6 Cosmetic damage to the Mobile Device, such as damage to paintwork, Mobile Device finish, dents or scratches, etc.

2.5.7 Any defects that are subject of the Samsung’s recall.

2.5.8 Any circumstances where the conditions in clauses 2.2 and 2.3 above are not met.

2.5.9 Cost incurred by You to repair the Mobile Device with a third party.

2.5.10 Any form of physical loss or untraceability of the Mobile Device, or any form of consequential or incidental loss suffered by You in respect of the Mobile Device.

2.5.11 Gradually developing flaws, defects, cracks or partial fractures in any part, although at some future time repair or renewal of the parts affected may be necessary.

2.5.12 Deterioration of or wearing away or wearing out of any part, marring or scratching of the Mobile Device caused by external force or naturally resulting from Normal Use or exposure.

2.5.13 Damage arising from attack by unauthorized software/virus, software faults.

2.5.14 Breakage arising out of any intentional act towards the Mobile Device including but not limited to incorrect installation or incorrect set-up.

2.5.15 Damage to any electronic data and/or Mobile Device software/operating system, storage media, data/records or similar intangible items and damage to the SIM card/memory card of the Mobile Device not caused by manufacturing defect.

2.5.16 Any failure of the Mobile Device to operate as a result of problems with respect to the network infrastructure, Your network subscription or similar service issues.

2.5.17 Defect caused by or attributed to the operation of a software virus or any other software-based malfunction; or natural disaster, fire, terrorism, or power surge.

2.6 Termination of EW Service Plan

This EW Service Plan will be immediately and automatically terminated in the following events. In such case, no refund will be due to You.

2.6.1 Fraud, attempted fraud, or non-disclosure of any changes to the Mobile Device that affect this EW Service Plan.

2.6.2 Where the asset serial number is removed, obliterated or altered from the Mobile Device.

2.6.3 If repairs have been conducted by unauthorized repair centers or person at any point during or before the EW Service Period.

2.6.4 Where Samsung has exercised its option to substitute the Mobile Device in accordance with clause 2.2.5 above.

2.6.5 Where Samsung has provided a replacement Mobile Device in the case of BER.


3. Extended Warranty Repair and Battery Replacement Request Process
3.1 You can request an Extended Warranty repair service or battery replacement service by walking in at Your convenience without any prior appointment to the nearest Samsung authorized service centre.

3.2 Once you have requested a service at a Samsung authorized service centre, You can lodge your request by logging on to our portal at https://hk.careplus.co/ or by calling Samsung on +852 5808 0286, Monday to Saturday 9:00 am to 6:00 pm excluding public holidays.

3.3 Samsung (through its authorized service centers) repairs the Mobile Device or replaces battery of the Mobile Device and informs You for pick-up arrangement.


4. Governing Law and Jurisdiction
The construction, interpretation and meaning of the provisions of this EW Service Plan shall be determined in accordance with the Hong Kong laws and any disputes arising out of and in connection with this EW Service Plan shall be resolved exclusively by the courts of Hong Kong.

2. Terms and Conditions

2.1.1 Mobile Device: Notebook Computer, as set out in the personalised information that You will receive in Your email or through SMS, which should be for personal use only and not to be used for commercial, rental, or profit generation purposes.

2.1.2 Normal Use: Use of the Mobile Device in accordance with the Samsung guidelines for Mobile Device usage including but not limited to regular maintenance and upkeep of the Mobile Device, usage of specified protection devices such as voltage stabilizers.

2.3.3 This EW Service Plan is transferable to another device only in the event of:

2.3.3.1 the Mobile Device received from Samsung being dead on arrival (DOA);

2.3.3.2 the Mobile Device being substituted by Samsung due to its non-repairable state; or

2.3.3.3 the Mobile Device being substituted under the terms of the Accidental Damage and Liquid Damage Device Insurance provided by FWD General Insurance Company Limited

2.4.1 Extended Warranty repairs caused by violating the Original Manufacturer’s Warranty, abuse or negligence.

2.4.9 Cost incurred by You to repair the Mobile Device with a third party.

2.4.10 Any form of physical loss or untraceability of the Mobile Device, or any form of consequential or incidental loss suffered by You in respect of the Mobile Device.

2.4.11 Gradually developing flaws, defects, cracks or partial fractures in any part, although at some future time repair or renewal of the parts affected may be necessary.

2.4.12 Deterioration of or wearing away or wearing out of any part, marring or scratching of the Mobile Device caused by external force or naturally resulting from Normal Use or exposure.

2.4.13 Damage arising from attack by unauthorized software/virus, software faults.

2.4.14 Breakage arising out of any intentional act towards the Mobile Device including but not limited to incorrect installation or incorrect set-up.

2.4.15 Damage to any electronic data and/or Mobile Device software/operating system, storage media, data/records or similar intangible items and damage to the SIM card/memory card of the Mobile Device not caused by manufacturing defect.

2.4.16 Any failure of the Mobile Device to operate as a result of problems with respect to the network infrastructure, Your network subscription or similar service issues.

2.4.17 Defect caused by or attributed to the operation of a software virus or any other software-based malfunction; or natural disaster, fire, terrorism, or power surge.

2.5 Termination of EW Service Plan

This EW Service Plan will be immediately and automatically terminated in the following events. In such case, no refund will be due to You.

2.5.1 Fraud, attempted fraud, or non-disclosure of any changes to the Mobile Device that affect this EW Service Plan.

2.5.2 Where the asset serial number is removed, obliterated or altered from the Mobile Device.

2.5.3 If repairs have been conducted by unauthorized repair centers or person at any point during or before the EW Service Period.

2.5.4 Where Samsung has exercised its option to substitute the Mobile Device in accordance with clause 2.2.5 above.

2.5.5 Where Samsung has provided a replacement Mobile Device in the case of BER.


3. Extended Warranty Repair Request Process
3.1 You can request an Extended Warranty repair service by walking in at Your convenience without any prior appointment to the nearest Samsung authorized service centre.

3.2 Once you have requested a service at a Samsung authorized service centre, You can lodge your request by logging on to our portal at https://hk.careplus.co/ or by calling Samsung on +852 5808 0286, Monday to Saturday 9:00 am to 6:00 pm excluding public holidays.

3.3 Samsung (through its authorized service centers) repairs the Mobile Device and informs You for pick-up arrangement.

4. Governing Law and Jurisdiction
The construction, interpretation and meaning of the provisions of this EW Service Plan shall be determined in accordance with the Hong Kong laws and any disputes arising out of and in connection with this EW Service Plan shall be resolved exclusively by the courts of Hong Kong.

2.2.2 The Mobile Device must (a) have been purchased new in Macau; (b) have been manufactured/distributed in Macau or legally imported into Macau;  (c) have been sold through the Samsung’s authorized dealer / distributor supported by an invoice & Original Manufacturer’s Warranty; (d) at all times have been used in accordance with Samsung’s guidelines for Mobile Device usage including but not limited to regular maintenance & upkeep of the Mobile Device; (e) not have been modified at any time; (f) have been used for personal use only and not for commercial, rental, or profit generation purposes; and (g) have been mainly used by You and Your Immediate Family Member, and have been in Your possession (or Immediate Family Member as relevant) only.

2.2.3 Any previous repair to the Mobile Device must (a) have been performed in Macau; and (b) have been performed by the Samsung authorized service center.

2.2.4 The Original Manufacturer’s Warranty must remain valid throughout the Original Manufacturer’s Warranty Period and not been voided or affected by any action by You.

2.2.5 In performing EW Service repair, Samsung shall have the option in its discretion, without prejudice to the terms and conditions of this EW Service Plan:

2.2.5.1 to substitute the Mobile Device with a like-for-like model (in the case of BER). The substituted Mobile Device (the spoilt unit) shall become Samsung property. 2.4.3.3 the Mobile Device being substituted under the terms of the Accidental Damage and Liquid Damage Device Insurance provided by Fidelidade Macau - Insurance Company Limited  

This EW Service Plan shall continue to cover the substituted Mobile Device provided that You notify us in writing, through the method mentioned in clause 3 “Extended Warranty Repair and Battery Replacement Request Process” below (a) of the DOA within 30 days from the date of the invoice; (b) of the details of the substituted Mobile Device within 30 days from the date of Your receipt of the substituted Mobile Device. 

The Mobile Device model and IMEI number will be updated accordingly. For these purposes, “DOA” or “dead on arrival” refers to a Mobile Device (i) being purchased and not taken immediately from a physical outlet and which is later delivered to You; (ii) upon delivery is found to be completely inoperative; and (iii) is immediately returned to the manufacturer for replacement.

2.5 What is Not Included

This EW Service Plan is only for Extended Warranty repairs of the same defects as the Manufacturer Covered Defects based on the terms set out in this EW Service Plan, and for the avoidance of doubt, does not include repair or services of or for the following:

2.5.1 Extended Warranty repairs caused by violating the Original Manufacturer’s Warranty, abuse or negligence.

2.5.2 Regular wear and tear or gradual deterioration.

2.5.3 Replacement of or support for data, software, music etc. i.e., any data stored on the Mobile Device.

2.5.4 Repair implicitly or explicitly covered by the Original Manufacturer’s Warranty 

2.5.5 Replacement of any consumable items or accessories like chargers, headphones, etc.

2.5.6 Cosmetic damage to the Mobile Device, such as damage to paintwork, Mobile Device finish, dents or scratches, etc.

2.5.7 Any defects that are subject of the Samsung’s recall.

2.5.8 Any circumstances where the conditions in clauses 2.2 and 2.3 above are not met.

2.5.9 Cost incurred by You to repair the Mobile Device with a third party.

2.5.10 Any form of physical loss or untraceability of the Mobile Device, or any form of consequential or incidental loss suffered by You in respect of the Mobile Device.

2.5.11 Gradually developing flaws, defects, cracks or partial fractures in any part, although at some future time repair or renewal of the parts affected may be necessary.

2.5.12 Deterioration of or wearing away or wearing out of any part, marring or scratching of the Mobile Device caused by external force or naturally resulting from Normal Use or exposure.

2.5.13 Damage arising from attack by unauthorized software/virus, software faults.

2.5.14 Breakage arising out of any intentional act towards the Mobile Device including but not limited to incorrect installation or incorrect set-up. 

2.5.15 Damage to any electronic data and/or Mobile Device software/operating system, storage media, data/records or similar intangible items and damage to the SIM card/memory card of the Mobile Device not caused by manufacturing defect. 

2.5.16 Any failure of the Mobile Device to operate as a result of problems with respect to the network infrastructure, Your network subscription or similar service issues.

2.5.17 Defect caused by or attributed to the operation of a software virus or any other software-based malfunction; or natural disaster, fire, terrorism, or power surge.

2.6 Termination of EW Service Plan

This EW Service Plan will be immediately and automatically terminated in the following events. In such case, no refund will be due to You.

2.6.1 Fraud, attempted fraud, or non-disclosure of any changes to the Mobile Device that affect this EW Service Plan.

2.6.2 Where the asset serial number is removed, obliterated or altered from the Mobile Device.

2.6.3 If repairs have been conducted by unauthorized repair centers or person at any point during or before the EW Service Period.

2.6.4 Where Samsung has exercised its option to substitute the Mobile Device in accordance with clause 2.2.5 above. 

2.6.5 Where Samsung has provided a replacement Mobile Device in the case of BER.

3.     Extended Warranty Repair and Battery Replacement Request Process

3.1 You can request an Extended Warranty repair service or battery replacement service by walking in at Your convenience without any prior appointment to the nearest Samsung authorized service centre. 

3.2 Once you have requested a service at a Samsung authorized service centre, You can lodge your request by logging on to our portal at https://mo.careplus.co/ or by calling Samsung on +853 6825 8570, Monday to Saturday 9:00 am to 6:00 pm excluding public holidays.

3.3 Samsung (through its authorized service centers) repairs the Mobile Device or replaces battery of the Mobile Device and informs You for pick-up arrangement.

4. Governing Law and Jurisdiction

The construction, interpretation and meaning of the provisions of this EW Service Plan shall be determined in accordance with the Macau laws and any disputes arising out of and in connection with this EW Service Plan shall be resolved exclusively by the courts of Macau.

Samsung Care+ Extended Warranty Service Terms and Conditions (Notebook Computer)

The Extended Warranty service (“EW Service”) provided to you by Samsung Electronics H.K. Company, Limited (“Samsung”) (“EW Service Plan”) is governed by these Terms and Conditions:

1.1 This EW Service Plan will serve You for repairing of inherent mechanical and electrical defects and/or failure of Your Mobile Device during the EW Service Period (as defined in clause 2.1.3 below) with unlimited repair request for EW Service or one (1) BER substitution.

1.2 Walk-in to the nearest Samsung authorized service center at Your convenience for EW Service repair request during the EW Service Period.

1.3 You can make an EW Service repair request 6 days a week by calling our multi-lingual customer services hotline.                                                    

2. Terms and Conditions

2.1    Definitions

2.1.1 Mobile Device: Notebook Computer, as set out in the personalised information that You will receive in Your email or through SMS, which should be for personal use only and not to be used for commercial, rental, or profit generation purposes.

2.1.2 Normal Use: Use of the Mobile Device in accordance with the Samsung guidelines for Mobile Device usage including but not limited to regular maintenance and upkeep of the Mobile Device, usage of specified protection devices such as voltage stabilizers.

2.1.3 Extended Warranty: The Extension of the Original Manufacturer's Warranty on Mobile Device for a period of one (1) year. The EW Service Plan commences on the day immediately after the expiry date of the Original Manufacturer's Warranty and it covers repairing of inherent mechanical and electrical defects and/or failure of the Mobile Device, subject to the relevant terms and conditions contained in the Original Manufacturer's Warranty and the terms and conditions contained herein.

2.1.4 BER: ‘Beyond Economic Repairs’ means cost of a repair is greater than 85% of the recommended retail price (RRP) of the Mobile Device, which should be evaluated and determined by the Samsung authorized service centres at their discretions.

2.1.5 Manufacturer Covered Defects: Defects covered by the Original Manufacturer’s Warranty during the Original Manufacturer’s Warranty Period. The covered defect will vary for each Mobile Device in accordance with the Original Manufacturer’s Warranty for the said Mobile Device.

2.1.6 Original Manufacturer’s Warranty: The original warranty given by Samsung in respect of a Mobile Device.

2.1.7 Original Manufacturer’s Warranty Period: The uninterrupted period of the Original Manufacturer’s Warranty cover as stated on the official Original Manufacturer’s Warranty certificate or publication.

2.1.8 You/Your: The customer of this EW Service Plan.

2.1.9 Immediate Family Member: Your spouse and/or children.

2.2 Scope of EW Service repair

Repairs which are required by You during the EW Service Period are for the same defects as the Manufacturer Covered Defects, in respect of the Mobile Device, subject to the following conditions:

2.2.1 Repair performed exclusively by a Samsung authorized service center. 

2.2.2 The Mobile Device must (a) have been purchased new in Macau; (b) have been manufactured/distributed in Macau or legally imported into Macau;  (c) have been sold through the Samsung’s authorized dealer / distributor supported by an invoice & Original Manufacturer’s Warranty; (d) at all times have been used in accordance with Samsung’s guidelines for Mobile Device usage including but not limited to regular maintenance & upkeep of the Mobile Device; (e) not have been modified at any time; (f) have been used for personal use only and not for commercial, rental, or profit generation purposes; and (g) have been mainly used by You and Your Immediate Family Member, and have been in Your possession (or Immediate Family Member as relevant) only.

2.2.3 Any previous repair to the Mobile Device must (a) have been performed in Macau; and (b) have been performed by the Samsung authorized service center.

2.2.4 The Original Manufacturer’s Warranty must remain valid throughout the Original Manufacturer’s Warranty Period and not been voided or affected by any action by You.

2.2.5 In performing EW Service repair, Samsung shall have the option in its discretion, without prejudice to the terms and conditions of this EW Service Plan:

2.2.5.1 to substitute the Mobile Device with a like-for-like model (in the case of BER). The substituted Mobile Device (the spoilt unit) shall become Samsung property. You will be responsible to backup and restore any data You may have from the substituted Mobile Device to the replacement Mobile Device, where relevant. 

2.2.5.2 to outsource or sub-contract repair or any part of it.

2.3 Other Key Conditions

2.3.1 This EW Service Plan becomes valid only on the day immediately after the expiry date of the Original Manufacturer's Warranty. 

2.3.2 This EW Service Plan is only valid for the Mobile Device detailed in the personalized information issued to You by email and/or SMS after purchasing of this EW Service Plan. This EW Service Plan is not assignable or transferable by You or to another device, for any reason (including but not limited to the Mobile Device being sold to a third party), other than in the cases set out in clause 2.3.3 below.

2.3.3 This EW Service Plan is transferable to another device only in the event of:

2.3.3.1 the Mobile Device received from Samsung being dead on arrival (DOA);

2.3.3.2 the Mobile Device being substituted by Samsung due to its non-repairable state; or

2.3.3.3 the Mobile Device being substituted under the terms of the Accidental Damage and Liquid Damage Device Insurance provided by Fidelidade Macau - Insurance Company Limited 

This EW Service Plan shall continue to cover the substituted Mobile Device provided that You notify us in writing, through the method mentioned in clause 3 “Extended Warranty Repair Request Process” below (a) of the DOA within 30 days from the date of the invoice; (b) of the details of the substituted Mobile Device within 30 days from the date of Your receipt of the substituted Mobile Device.
